Microsoft adds Carmine Di Sibio to Board

Microsoft, a technology company that creates platforms and tools powered by artificial intelligence, has appointed former EY chief executive Carmine Di Sibio to its board of directors. The addition brings the corporate governing body to 13 members. Di Sibio takes seats on both the audit and compensation committees for the software provider. Prior to this role, he served as the global chairman and chief executive officer of EY, an organization that advises global clients on strategy and financial risk.

Di Sibio joined EY in 1985 and advanced through several management positions. His previous assignments at the firm included global managing partner in client services, chair of global financial services markets and regional managing partner for the Americas financial services organization.

“Carmine has spent four decades advising some of the world’s most complex organizations on strategy, financial risk and global growth,” said Satya Nadella, chairman and CEO, Microsoft. “That depth of experience will strengthen our board as we work to deliver on our mission and meet the evolving needs of our customers.”

“Our board will immediately benefit from Carmine’s deep financial expertise, global lens and decades of advising organizations through real complexity,” said Sandra Peterson, Microsoft lead independent director. “His addition strengthens the board, and we look forward to working with him.”

Outside of his new position at Microsoft, Di Sibio holds independent director roles at payment processing company PayPal Holdings, insurance firm Prudential Financial and technology enterprise Evolver. He sits on the board for Hackensack Meridien Hospital. His academic board memberships include Colgate University and the Wake Forest University Business School. He earned a bachelor of arts in chemistry from Colgate University and a master of business administration from the Stern School of Business at New York University.
