Sage appoints new Chief Product Officer and Chief Strategy Officer

Sage, a software company that develops accounting, financial, human resources and payroll systems for small and medium businesses, has appointed two new executives to direct its product development and corporate growth. Krish Vitaldevara joins the company as chief product officer, while Anand Swaminathan takes the role of chief strategy officer. Both executives will be based in the company's San Jose office and join the executive leadership team by mid June.

The appointments occur as software providers increasingly embed artificial intelligence into financial workflows to automate payroll processing, detect ledger anomalies and forecast cash flow. Overseeing this technical integration is Vitaldevara, who assumes responsibility for the global product roadmap. He brings a specialized engineering background to the position, holding more than thirty patents in distributed systems, trust and safety, and anomaly detection.

Before moving to Sage, Vitaldevara served as a general manager and executive vice president at customer relationship management provider Salesforce. There, he managed the integration of products and personnel following the company's acquisition of data management firm Informatica. His resume also includes engineering and management positions at NetApp, Google and Microsoft.

Swaminathan will manage corporate strategy and long term growth priorities. He arrives from management consulting firm McKinsey, where he worked as a senior partner advising corporate boards on enterprise technology implementations. He previously held senior positions at Accenture Digital, focusing on data, cloud computing and product development. He currently serves as vice chair of the board of trustees at Case Western Reserve University.

“Krish and Anand are proven leaders with deep experience building and scaling world-class products and businesses. Their appointments reflect our continued investment in innovation and growth, and I’m excited about the impact they’ll have for our customers, colleagues and partners,” said Steve Hare, CEO, Sage.

The leadership additions come at a time when midmarket enterprises are migrating away from legacy accounting software to cloud based systems that can process data autonomously. By bringing in a product chief with a background in machine learning platforms alongside a strategy chief specializing in technology expansion, the company is positioning itself to capitalize on this enterprise transition.

“I’m excited to be joining Sage at such an important moment for the business. Sage has a unique purpose, a strong customer focus and culture, and a compelling opportunity to lead in intelligent, trusted solutions for small and medium-sized businesses. I’m looking forward to working with the team to continue evolving the product portfolio and delivering meaningful impact for customers,” said Krish Vitaldevara, Chief Product Officer.

The dual hiring approach splits the operational product roadmap from broader market expansion duties, allowing the company to dedicate resources to both software engineering and corporate acquisitions or partnerships.

“Sage has a clear strategy and a powerful position in the market. I’m thrilled to join the business and to help shape the next phase of growth, building on Sage’s strengths and ensuring we continue to create long-term value for customers, colleagues and shareholders,” said Anand Swaminathan, Chief Strategy Officer.
