Unit4 integrates artificial intelligence into Scanmarket sourcing platform following customer growth

Unit4, an enterprise software provider serving more than 4,700 mid-market customers globally, has announced technical updates and adoption metrics for its Scanmarket source-to-contract application. The deployment of artificial intelligence capabilities within its contract management systems coincides with top rankings in vendor evaluations. Info-Tech Research Group, an advisory firm serving over 30,000 information technology, human resources and marketing professionals, positioned Scanmarket as the number one vendor in its 2026 Strategic Sourcing Data Quadrant Report for the second consecutive year.

The quadrant rankings rely on user reviews collected through the SoftwareReviews platform. End-users rated the application on its electronic request handling, electronic auction capacities and contract lifecycle oversight.

"Organisations are looking for greater visibility into the risks and data that impact contractual outcomes and decision-making during the contract lifecycle,” said Phil Bode, Principal Advisory Director at Info-Tech Research Group. “Leaders want tools and access to data to strengthen governance and vendor accountability. ROI can be important, but sustainable value comes from better information and more informed decisions rather than cost savings alone.”

Recent contract implementations include several regional and international entities. Afa Insurance, a provider that covers almost 90 percent of the Swedish workforce with at least one policy, adopted the software alongside Bury Council, a Greater Manchester metropolitan authority providing services for about 193,866 residents. Additional deployments occurred at the University of East Anglia, an educational institution established in 1963 with more than 17,000 students, and Southern Co-Op, an independent cooperative operating over 300 food, funeral and Starbucks coffee branches across southern England. NG Nordic, a Nordic company that processes hazardous substances and transforms waste into resources, also contracted the procurement technology.

The software developer is integrating artificial intelligence across the product suite to automate data capture and summarize contract terms. The engineering team is also undertaking a reimplementation of the electronic auction module to introduce a new user interface and modernized back-end architecture. Associated British Foods, a longstanding customer utilizing the electronic sourcing modules, contributed feedback for this development cycle.

“As a longstanding customer of Scanmarket (Unit4) and an active user of the e‑RFX and e‑Auction modules, we’re truly excited about the upcoming re‑design of the e‑Auction module,” said Patrice Finnegan, Global Lead E-Sourcing, Associated British Foods. “The Scanmarket e‑Auction module is already one of the best in the industry in terms of product features and UI/UX for both buyers and suppliers, so it’s great to know that all of this will not only be preserved but further enhanced with the planned developments. Thanks to our continued partnership with Scanmarket we’ve been able to contribute feedback and gain early visibility into the roadmap, and we’re excited about the value this next evolution will deliver. It’s a clear reflection of Unit4’s strong, ongoing investment in Scanmarket’s S2C capabilities, and we’re genuinely thrilled about what’s coming next.”

“We are delighted with our continued momentum and recognition from Info-Tech Research Group, because it reflects our deep understanding of the way procurement is evolving to become more data-driven and digital,” said Jean de Villiers, Chief Customer Officer, Unit4. “We are maintaining our leadership position, because the platform is setting the industry benchmark in terms of product capability and customer experience. Alongside our continued commitment to innovation in areas like AI, our customers understand that our goal is to deliver an intuitive, powerful sourcing platform built to support the full sourcing lifecycle.”

Beyond the commercial enterprise market, the software vendor has initiated early product research into public procurement portal integrations. This research seeks to adapt the platform to specific public sector governance standards as government entities attempt to reduce purchasing costs.
