Westbank First Nation selects Unit4 ERPx

Westbank First Nation (WFN) is a self-governing Indigenous community of roughly 900 members in the Okanagan region near Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. It operates under its own constitution and laws and is governed by an elected Chief and Council who oversees core departments such as health, education, and economic development.

WFN has expanded its services and infrastructure to support a growing community, placing strong emphasis on cultural heritage preservation while actively modernizing its operations to ensure efficient and effective governance.

Operationally, WFN has a professional administration with dedicated departments for finance, taxation, IT, communications, and more. For instance, the WFN IT Department plays a key role: it “ensures WFN employees stay connected and secure by delivering dependable technological solutions and expert support”. This includes maintaining reliable networks, devices, and robust cybersecurity measures.

This forward-thinking organization is driving towards modernizing its administrative system, issued a competitive procurement process in March of 2025, explicitly stating it was “seeking qualified Software Providers… to provide an Enterprise Resource Planning system that meets or exceeds WFN’s needs”.  WFN were looking to modernize and streamline operations by replacing fragmented legacy systems, improving data access and visibility, and establishing a unified, reliable source of information across the organization. This underscores how WFN’s administration prioritizes efficiency and up-to-date technology.

Awarding the contract to Unit4 in June 2026 for ERPX, underpins their ambition to adopt a modern, integrated platform that aligns with its goals to unify systems, reduce manual processes, and enable more efficient, best‑practice driven operations across the organization.  “We’re excited to move forward with Unit4 on this important initiative for Westbank First Nation,” said Robert Mashohn, Director of Finance, WFN. “They bring a strong combination of technology, expertise, and public sector experience that gives us confidence in our path forward. We look forward to beginning the project and building a collaborative partnership that will help support our community for years to come.”

ERPx is uniquely well suited to operational modernization for organizations such as WFN because it is designed to move beyond ‘legacy systems’ into a more adaptive, insight‑driven environment. ERPx delivers strong alignment with WFN’s modernization strategy, unifying data for finance, procurement, projects, and FP&A. They are also taking advantage of Unit4’s Success4U to support them through change and developing capabilities when replacing fragmented tools and manual processes.

“We’re incredibly proud to partner with WFN on this transformational initiative,” said Greg Beaumont, Unit4. “This is more than a technology project, it’s the start of a long-term partnership built on trust, collaboration, and a shared vision for modern, efficient governance. We’re excited to support Westbank First Nation as they continue to grow and deliver exceptional services to their community, and we look forward to building something truly meaningful together.” Greg Beaumont

This project represents Unit4’s first ERPx deployment with a First Nation - an important milestone that highlights our ability to support organizations operating in uniquely complex environments. First Nations like WFN combine elements of municipal, regional, and federal governance, requiring diverse capabilities across taxation, utilities, grants, and community services. Unit4 ERPx is purpose-built to meet these multifaceted requirements, providing a flexible, integrated platform that aligns with the breadth and complexity of First Nation operations.
