HyperDev, a South African startup that builds AI-powered software development tools, has raised more than $1 million in pre-seed funding from a network of venture capital investors based in Europe and the United Kingdom. The company began testing alpha versions of its platform in 2025, released Version 11 earlier this year to a closed developer ecosystem, and is approaching 100,000 users.
The platform's core bet is that code generation has become the easy part of AI-assisted development. Debugging, integrating components, testing and preparing software for deployment consume more developer time than writing the initial code, and HyperDev's tools address those later stages rather than competing on generation speed. A feature called Guided Mode provides structured assistance through the post-generation workflow, helping users move from AI-produced code to a deployed website or application.
Piotr Sobolewski, Chief Technical Officer and Co-Founder at HyperDev, described the gap the platform targets: "Every AI coding tool on the market was built on the assumption that generating code was the hard part. We built HyperDev because we knew the hard part was what came after, and nobody else seems to be solving that."
The platform also serves users without programming backgrounds. Entrepreneurs can use AI to generate an initial version of their software and then hire professional developers through HyperDev to complete or customize the final product.
Falk Albers, Managing Director at Reinsurance Intelligence Quotient and General Partner at Loom Ventures, one of the participating investors, described what separated HyperDev from other AI coding tools in the pre-seed category:

While most vibe coding tools are thin wrappers around third-party LLMs, HyperDev is building proprietary technology that makes code generation actually useful.
