South African customers of Salesforce, a cloud software company that provides CRM and business applications to enterprises, can now run Salesforce workloads from within the country after the company made its Hyperforce infrastructure platform generally available through the AWS South Africa (Cape Town) Region, part of Amazon Web Services' global cloud network.
The move is driven by compliance pressure from the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), South Africa's data protection legislation that restricts cross-border data transfers. By hosting data within the Cape Town region, Salesforce says businesses in government, financial services, and telecommunications, three sectors that face the most restrictive data residency requirements under the law, can now meet their local obligations without routing data across borders.
Hyperforce incorporates zero-trust network principles, least-privileged access controls, and encryption of customer data at rest and in transit. The platform also underpins the Agentforce Trust Layer, which governs how Salesforce's AI products handle customer data.

At launch, Salesforce Platform, Sales, CRM Analytics, Revenue Management, and Industry solutions are available to South African customers on Hyperforce. Salesforce said it plans to add further Agentforce Platform products to the regional offering over time.
