CASA Software brings broadcom AI data tools to South Africa

CASA Software, a South African digital transformation company that partners with global technology vendors including Broadcom to deploy enterprise automation solutions locally, has begun offering Automic Automation's generative AI capabilities to South African businesses. Automic Automation is an enterprise workload automation and service orchestration platform from Broadcom, the California-based semiconductor and infrastructure software company, that coordinates IT workloads, applications and business processes across on-premises, hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

The specific capability CASA Software is bringing to the local market is ASK_AI, a feature embedded inside Automic workflows that lets users submit natural language prompts to extract, summarise, restructure and enrich data without writing custom transformation code. The case for the feature rests on a gap that has persisted in enterprise data management: most data transformation work still depends on developers scripting or configuring detailed ETL logic by hand, a process that slows data pipelines and delays the business decisions that depend on them.

Greg Harrowsmith, Pre-Sales at CASA Software, described how ASK_AI changes that process: "In many traditional ETL processes, developers still need to script or configure detailed transformation logic manually. ASK_AI allows users to describe the intended output in natural language, reducing the burden of custom parsing and transformation logic. Automic can pass the prompt and source data to the configured AI model, which interprets the request and returns transformed output that can be validated and processed by subsequent workflow steps. This in turn enables organisations to create dynamic, intelligent data pipelines in a fraction of the time."

Because AI-generated outputs carry inherent uncertainty, Automic workflows can route ASK_AI results through defined controls and downstream logic before those outputs reach any business-critical process. The validation layer sits between the AI model's response and the workflow steps that act on it, giving technical teams a governed path to use generative AI inside production data environments without bypassing the checks that enterprise automation typically requires.

The platform connects to enterprise applications, cloud services, databases and APIs, covering the full data journey from extraction through transformation to delivery. At scale, it manages millions of tasks across complex hybrid IT environments from a centralised monitoring layer. Harrowsmith noted that the low-code approach ASK_AI extends applies most directly to parsing, summarisation and restructuring tasks, reducing the need for specialist development resources on those specific workflows while leaving governance over outputs in the hands of technical teams or appropriately authorised business users.

Use cases CASA Software is targeting in the South African market include financial reporting and regulatory compliance, customer data consolidation, supply chain visibility and IT operations analytics.
