PayJustNow, a South African buy-now-pay-later platform, will activate its payment system at Netcare Medicross medical and dental facilities beginning May 18. Netcare Medicross, the primary care division of Netcare that processes more than 1.5 million annual patient visits across eight provinces, implemented the software to provide alternative transaction methods for medical expenses. The agreement establishes the financial technology vendor as the exclusive deferred payment provider for the healthcare network.
The deployment allows patients lacking sufficient medical aid benefits to distribute the cost of general practitioner visits and dental consultations over a scheduled period. The system architecture ensures that healthcare providers receive full compensation at the time of service provision.
“Adding PayJustNow gives patients another practical payment option when they visit a Medicross medical or dental center,” said Sara Nayager, Managing director at Netcare Medicross. “It supports access to private primary health care by helping patients manage upfront costs in a way that is clear and controlled, while healthcare providers are paid in full at the time of service.”

It is about giving them a structured way to manage necessary costs when care is needed while keeping repayments clear, predictable, and aligned to their budget.”
“People often associate BNPL with retail purchases such as fashion, footwear, or homeware. But the strongest use cases are increasingly in areas where consumers need flexibility without taking on open-ended debt. Healthcare is a clear example of that change,” said Hyde. “When BNPL is used responsibly, it can smooth cash flow at moments that matter. That is the real value. It gives consumers more room to manage necessary expenses without delaying care or destabilising the rest of the month.”
The integration reflects a broader merchant strategy for the payment provider as it moves beyond standard retail environments into essential economic sectors. Prior to this medical network rollout, the platform secured vendor adoption in specialized health categories including optometry practices and physiotherapy clinics.
