Treepz, a Nigerian mobility startup founded in 2019 that operates a digital platform for booking daily rides along fixed routes and serves as an aggregator connecting passengers to bus operators across dozens of Nigerian cities, has partnered with CMS Transport Management, one of Lagos' established bus operators, to launch a service called TMO Rides. The service introduces cashless fare payments across CMS T&M's network through a physical TMO Card, replacing manual cash collection on the CMS to Ajah corridor.
CMS T&M's passengers will use TMO Cards to pay fares without cash, while the operator gains access to digital ticketing, real-time operational data and revenue management tools through Treepz's platform. Treepz, which rebranded from Plentywaka in September 2021, positions itself as the technology layer that allows transport operators to replace paper-based processes with digital infrastructure without overhauling their existing operations.
Andrew Akhigbe, Managing Director of CMS T&M, described the case for change after nearly sixty years of operation: "For nearly six decades, our focus has remained the same, which is moving people safely and efficiently. As the transportation needs of Lagos continue to evolve, we must evolve with them. TMO Rides is about making everyday commuting easier by giving our passengers a faster, more convenient way to pay while improving the overall travel experience. This launch represents another important step in our commitment to building a smarter, more accessible transport system for everyone."
